Dynamics of domain walls in ferroelectrics and relaxors

Abstract The dynamic contribution of domain walls (DWs) to application‐relevant dielectric and piezoelectric properties ferroelectrics relaxor‐based oxide ceramics has been in the focus since earliest studies on these complex multifunctional materials. Despite vital importance DWs material design for targeted applications, understanding interfaces significantly advanced only recently owing concurrent development analytical methodologies probing structure samples situ at different length scales. In this contribution, we present two recent cases that have raised particular attention controversy. first is electrically conductive BiFeO 3 (BFO), whereas second low‐angle characteristic relaxor ferroelectric Pb(Mg 1/3 Nb 2/3 )O − x PbTiO (PMN–PT). Using nonlinear measurements with support from multiscale structural analysis, illustrate case how, one hand, local electrical conductivity BFO and, other disorder inherent PMN–PT affect DW dynamics, leading emerging macroscopic effects.
